I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Jill for 38 years. We have three adult children; my older son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live in Bellingham. All my children attended Western Washington University--Go Vikings!
I’ve spent my career as a professional auditor evaluating government programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and measuring whether they perform as expected. Safeguarding your tax dollars is important to me.
My career started at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO--the “Government Watchdog”) in the Seattle Field Office. I also worked for 6 years at the King County Auditor’s Office evaluating a variety of county government programs.
Currently I’m a Real Estate Agent, and formerly was Past President of Evergreen Chapter; American Society for Public Administration, and Chair of the Education Committee of the Association of Local Government Auditors. I have also taught classes to auditors on Audit Interviewing, Teamwork, and Communication Skills, and was an Adjunct Faculty Member at the GAO.
I have a Master’s degree from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, University of Washington, and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from UCLA.
Some of my community service activities include former Chair, Boy Scout Troop 591; former Chair, Board of Trustees, Redmond United Methodist Church; Volunteer Advocate, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Whatcom County; and Member, Arc of Whatcom County, among other activities.
